About Us

During the first covid wave, due to sudden lockdown, we witnessed thousands of daily wage earners and migrant populations being forced to walk back to their native place. Few like-minded individuals hailing from the state of Bihar came together to set up “iBihar”, a community action group aimed at fighting covid and its impact on people. i-Bihar (An initiative of Leadership Projects for Bihar) was one of the first set of innovative solutions selected at the meeting of National Action Group of Parliamentarians with Innovators for India (PI India).

i-Bihar is one such mission that invites and brings together some of the like-minded individuals and capable and credible organisations to contribute in the fight against COVID-19 for Bihar and for the nation. The team of i-Bihar is led by alumni of Harvard Kennedy School, Global Shaper Community of World Economic Forum, Asian Institute of Management (Manila), Madras School of Economics, Birmingham City University (UK), PES Institute of Technology, Symbiosis Law School.

During the first phase, i-Bihar was able to channelise resources through crowdfunding. Migrants and their family were provided with basic food items, grains, clothes and cash distribution to help them overcome loss of income and survive lockdown. Many families were saved from hunger and had a positive impact on the lives of over 9000 individuals.

Our Mission

Minimize the sufferings by providing basic healthcare and essentials through ‘Treatment in a Box’ solution to the people of Bihar fighting for survival against COVID-19.

Box Hospital

Given the rapid spread of infection and patients not getting access to basic healthcare services, we are focussing at mobilising resources, medical equipment, oxygen concentrators, ventilators etc. to increase the capacity utilisation of government hospitals.

We are setting up affordable, scalable, plug and play ‘Box Hospital’ in different district of Bihar, which would be Covid recovery centres (Triage system). These centres would be equipped with a cost-effective alternative such as laminated corrugated cardboard beds, medicine boxes and separators, designed and manufactured by team of experts. These beds are sturdy, waterproof, quick to develop and can be disinfected. The cardboard separators allow patients isolation and dignity in large halls. We have also partnered with various agencies to procure oxygen concentrators, oximeters, ventilators to make the treatment available in rural part of Bihar. We are planning to set up a 50-bed recovery facility in 6 different districts of Bihar to treat patients with mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19. Besides the medical equipment, the facility has laminated corrugated cardboard beds and tables that are highly affordable and durable.
